Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a term that refers to The organization that expects profitability provides high-quality goods and services. The consumer who expects to buy high-quality, branded goods and services at low prices. This is a transaction that occurs between a firm and a consumer, however CSR programs are not conducted for profit. It's a kind of social service. As a result, we can define Corporate Social Responsibility as a company's commitment to sustainable development through the provision of economic, social, and environmental benefits to all stakeholders.

Some firms have as their primary goal the achievement of social or environmental objectives, as opposed to a business that seeks to meet its financial objectives while minimizing any harmful influence on society or the environment. These companies are known as Social Enterprises.

According to Van Marrewijk (2003), CSR is viewed as the panacea for resolving global poverty, social isolation, and environmental degradation.

According to Beckman et al., (2009), CSR refers to an organization's status and operations in relation to its perceived community duty. CSR is gaining traction in the realms of ethics, marketing, and management. Ethics is divided into three categories: macro-, meso-, and micro-level issues. Stakeholder engagement is referred to as macro- and meso-, whereas micro- refers to the center of a given issue, such as a code of ethics.

Corporate social responsibility, represents obligations to society and stakeholders within societies impacted by the corporation in a broad sense. (Boyd et al., 2007)

Levels of Corporate Social Responsibility

1.    Philanthropic Responsibilities

Philanthropic responsibility is always voluntary, and it can be implemented by devoting both employees' time and company funds to the betterment of society, and by constantly striving to improve the world around them. Companies, according to the societal view, are responsible to society as a whole, of which they are an integral component (Carroll, 1991).

2.    Ethical Responsibilities

According to Caroll (1991), ethical duties are standards, norms, and expectations that consumers, employees, shareholders, and the community see as reasonable, despite the fact that they are not legally binding. The ethical responsibility of a company is the voluntary responsibility of the firm to operate in a fair and just manner, avoiding or at least minimizing the possibility of adverse effects on the company's shareholders. In recent years, ethical responsibility has placed high demands on corporate executives, and social pressure has compelled businesses to act in ways that go far beyond their legal obligations.

3.    Economic and Legal Responsibilities

The main activity of a business is to offer goods and services, which is what economic duties imply. Legal responsibilities refer to firms' obligations to act in conformity with current laws and regulations promulgated by federal, state, and municipal governments as the fundamental principles under which businesses should function (Carroll, 1991).

Why is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) important for the organization?

Companies must pay attention to this trend in order to reap the benefits listed below as a result of their participation in Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR projects are now being carried out by a large number of organizations not just in the United States but also around the world. The company may not obtain the results of CSR projects in a timely manner.

CSR projects are undertaken by organizations in order to improve the lives of society in some way. This can be accomplished through donating basic necessities to low-income housing, educational facilities with equipment, children's homes, and schools, among other places.

Depending on their mission and vision, many organizations engage in various CSR activities. CSR allows businesses to gain a competitive advantage while also benefiting society.

If the company is involved in CSR programs, it is one of the finest ways to keep employees engaged and maintain a strong working relationship. When carried out in this manner, all employees must contribute to the company's success. Following that, corporate social responsibility allows an organization's employees to contribute to giving back to society, country, or environment. It gives us great satisfaction to be able to do something that isn't just for ourselves but also helps put a smile on someone else's face. As employees who should be involved for the company, the organization is involved in a good initiative for the society. In the end, the highest levels of employee engagement will emerge on their own.

Every product market is fiercely competitive, and it's extremely difficult to build a brand's population across the country and over the world. As a result of maintaining good brand populations, the best customer base, stakeholders, and partners may be created, as well as the potential to generate the highest profitability. Positive word of mouth from those who benefit from your company's CSR can help your brand grow and thrive. Regardless of the attention, corporate social responsibility should be undertaken because an organization believes in the cause it is pursuing. Contributing to constructive social change will undoubtedly capture the media's attention and provide you an advantage over your competition.

3. Good reputation to the organization

Among other rival businesses and clients, as well as society, a good reputation should be established. The name of the organization is mentioned everywhere because of the CSR programs. There are dedicated customers and employees in the business that want to see the organization shine even more. They'll tell others about the company's bravery. Corporate social responsibility can be one of the methods used to help a company gain more loyal customers and workers. In the end, this will aid in the development of a positive image for your company. You can expect improved revenue generating if you have loyal clientele who appreciate your efforts.

4. Social development

The government bears primary responsibility for the development of society, but various businesses also pledge to help. For example, constructing a school, constructing and repairing housing for low-income families, donating school supplies, clothing, and food, and participating in a water project, to name a few examples.

Something can be done for society as an organization, which is the most valuable thing. We live in a world where businesses are too profit-driven, focusing solely on increasing revenue and market share year after year. The organization is also a part of society that should devote some time to helping others. Self-satisfaction will rise as a result of CSR projects, and it will be channeled into the benefit of the firm.

The company should consider doing something good for the community as a form of CSR. Then, as a result, there will be more pressure from employees, customers, and government agencies for businesses to be more transparent about their operations and to achieve and maintain acceptable business practices.

CSR is currently viewed as a critical tool for businesses to gain a competitive edge, defend and develop brand awareness, and establish trust with customers and employees.
